As you will know from church notices and the Annual Report / APCM, after 10 years clergy are encouraged by the Diocese to take a 3 month sabbatical from their parish.
What this means:
The Henderson family will be away from St. Andrew’s from the start of June (really the last weekend of May as they will also be on our May Youth Camp) until the start of September.
We will be following the Diocesan instructions to: rest, seek spiritual reflection and refreshing, have an element of study and spend time as a family.
Dan will be spending some time on retreat in Wales, the whole family will be travelling the East Coast of the US during July visiting various churches, cultural sights and largely places from movies and songs!
What this DOESN’T mean:
We are looking for a new church. We’re not and, God willing, we will be back with our St. Andrew’s family in September.
St. Andrew’s will fall apart. It won’t! We have a strong church family and a committed leadership. Most things will carry on as normal. Fr. Bill will cover a lot of 8am and 10am services and some other local clergy will help as well…including Bishop Will (Bishop of Lewes) who will cover the 10am service on 28th July!
You won’t be able to contact someone if you need to. Dan & Jo will not be contactable during the sabbatical...HOWEVER, if you need to speak to someone about church, faith, pastoral matters or anything like that please contact our church office or our Wardens, Fiona & John, and they will be able to give you the answer or the contact details of someone to speak to.
